A Cavernous Complex: The beginning

Synopsis

In 2221, a time traveller named Jon Pestwick arrives in Pallens 1943 at the height of the Blitz to investigate the origins of an ailment that manifested in 1746. During his investigation in Pallens, he finds a young woman named, Katherine MacFarlane who died in 1746 and has been living as a vampire since. It transpires that Katherine had the illness that Jon is investigating the origins of. Jon and Katherine begin to bond as they discover more about the mutating illness.

They soon make a startling discovery that Jon’s journey back to this time era has created a time loop, unbreakable and unchangeable. Jon, determined to find a way to change this, starts to investigate a way around the time loop. During the investigation they discover the aliens responsible for the disappearances are the Sanguines’, from the Sanguini dimension, it is known that they have created a hereditary disease and have been breeding it into humans to disable the ones affected. The ones affected had also passed the disease down to their children. The disease was engineered by the sanguine to mutate through generations.

Jon and Katherine work together to locate the alien laboratory. They eventually located it in Verpa. They travel from Pallens to Verpa using Jons teleportation circuit. During their investigation, Katherine is attacked and kidnapped. The attackers turn out to be grunts for the aliens.

Jon realizes that his relationship with Katherine is more than just a temporary partnership and is forced to confront this revelation and find Katherine before they harm her. During this time Katherine is struggling against the aliens to try and break free of them and discovers she has the ability to travel in mid-air e.g. Fly, walk on air as if it was solid ground, and also stop and start time. She uses this ability to pause the Sanguine and escape in search of Jon.

Once back in Pallens they head to Katherine’s apartment, but Jon is still disturbed by knowledge that there is a time loop in motion and that Katherine must disappear or time could start disintegrating. He comes up with an idea to take Katherine back home with him that way Katherine still disappears, and the experiments still happen as they did but Katherine will be unharmed in the 51st century with him. Katherine agrees to go with Jon and travel with him….
